excellent reference guide 2010-08-05 This is invaluable to the inexperienced gardener, and comes from Amazon at a very affrdable price
Great plant reference book for the home 2010-08-01 The two volumes of this are a great reference guide to garden plants Each entry on a plant details how to cultivate and propagate it. Unlike some other plant guides every plant has at least one photograph which is essential in trying to identify specific varieties. I'm using it to see which plants are suitable for my garden and some extra advice on what to do with them.
Above my expectations! 2010-06-17 Well, I wanted to have the most complete plants guide... As I speak French, I own Truffaut and Larousse guides, but still couldn't find enough data inside. Since some time, I was looking to buy the largest Larousse guide at Fnac, but recently found this A-Z on Amazon. What an excellent surprise! I have got for 1/4 of Larousse price even more extensive encyclopedia (I did not expect to receive 2 two volumes!) with quality information and many example photos. I am more than happy and satisfied with the structure of the book, it goes in simple alphabetical order, all necessary info in one place, no need to search in different places. To compare with another guide I own, it was put there by color combination and then height, with descriptions in the section apart, pretty confusing to use. Luckilly, this guide was composed by normal people.
RHS Enclyclopedia of Garden Plants 2010-05-23 An excellent book if you know exactly what you are looking for. Very informative as to caring for the plants. However, if what you have in your garden is new to you it is hard work to find out what it is. A book which is categorised into Shrubs, Trees, Bulbs, Annuals, Perennials, etc. would be much more helpful if, like me, you have moved house and really don't have a clue as to what some of the plants are in the garden.
A-Z of Gardening 2010-05-17 These are two beautiful books and through Amazon excellent value. I know you can pay over £60 for these in a garden centre. Particularly, I appreciate the advice on how to prune. The various shapes of shrubs are shown. These books display a wealth of photos showing so many kinds of say, roses, which we know are countless. Other books show only a limited range. There is also plenty of advice on where to grow, etc. It's no wonder these books come in two volumes. I will be spending hours just looking through these wonderful books. Well done RHS.
