| Computer or Phone? 2010-03-28 I gave my 3g a 5 star rating because if you've never used one its unlike any other phone - This was and is the standard for future mobile technology. The Iphone is more a computer than a phone, with too many apps to count and thats where its strength lies. Below is a short feature list (bear in mind that certain apps aren't available directly from Apple ;-D) Ical Calendar Imap/Pop Email with Push(Push = instant email retrieval) Currency Converter GPS kit TomTom Aroundme(finds pubs, taxis, takeawy from your current location) Alarm Clock Dictionary Shredder Chess Goodreader (for reading books) Dropbox (For retreiving files online or via FTP) Google Earth Guitar Toolkit (Tuner, chords etc) Audio recorder IMDB - for retrieving movie info Palringo - instant messenger Itunes Remote Shazam - for using your iphone to tell you what song is playing on your car radio I could literally go on and on and on but you get the point. My question is that you can do all this stuff with your laptop and with the advent of the Ipad the iphone has become a little obsolete. I want my phone to have good Bluetooth support, take pictures I can see, record movies, Do GPS, retrieve my emails and with the exception of the latter the Iphone doesn't do any of these very well at all. The New offerings from HTC(Google Andriod) also include mini SD card support so you can swap out up to 32GB of info from your phone - when my contract is up Im buying one of those unlocked, Im glad I had the experience of the Iphone because I'm a big nerd who likes to remote control stuff but I want a phone thats a phone. | ||
 IPhone 3G is the Lamborghini of phones ... beware! 2009-12-19 My friends had this phone and I was desperate for one. Problem is that I am NOT a techie. Trying to keep the phone functioning with 02 has been a problem. For example, I have had trouble syncing whenever there are upgrades of programmes (3 of these so far). I love this phone when I can use it, but I struggle with it on a near daily basis. (Today it tells me I have no SIM card and therefore no dial tone). I still have not figured out how to do iTunes and a dozen other key things, have been on the telephone helpline 3 times and in the Apple Store 4-5 times. I have also had to buy 'extras' such as a Morphie battery charger to extend the battery time as docking has not been my lifestyle choice and I was finding my phone dead several times a week. Saying all the above, I do love the phone. The Safari internet browser is great to use (but the WiFi eats battery charge, beware). Overall I give this phone 4 stars because I love its functionality; the missing star is because of its technical demands which are far too high for a previous Pay-As-You-Go girl like me. Oh -- and I have had the for phone 13 months. It's really THAT bad!! | ||
